Fergus Falls to get new I-94 rest area as part of $27.7M federal grant — Rugby Sports news

FERGUS FALLS — A new rest area on Interstate 94 near Fergus Falls will be built as part of a $27.7 million federal grant awarded to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The MnDOT project is part of a $200 million investment in 14 truck parking projects across 12 states announced by U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy, with funding coming through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and Highway Projects program. The new Class I safety rest area, being billed as having roughly eight times the truck parking spaces compared to the small, aging rest area it is replacing, will have approximately 63 commercial motor vehicle parking spaces and approximately 60 passenger vehicle spaces. It will serve both directions of I-94 — a first for an interstate rest area in Minnesota, according to MnDOT. It will replace the Hansel Lake Rest Area on westbound I-94 southeast of Fergus Falls and the Lake Iverson Rest Area on the east
