I m an old man watching football, Who never played the game. As the biggest in the class, The coach thought that a shame. We had a business teacher, Who wouldn t let it drop, I didn t know what I could say, To just get him to stop. I refused to tell him, I was needed on the farm, I said I didn t like the game. A little lie, what harm. Then I became a Bison, Yet never saw a game. Looking back, free tickets, Yeah that was quite a shame. Next thing you know I have a son, That really wants to play. I have no skill to help him, As he heads along the way. But I can sit there in the stands, And shout when others do, Without an understanding, What he did, what he should do. It feels a bit like politics, We shout without a guess. Sorry, for a moment, It seems I did digress. My son was done with football, From bleachers I could rest. My football knowledge atrophied, Without the weekly test.
